PLEASE READ this entire section if you are new to this. Many questions continuously come up that are answered here. This chat applet above is only intended to introduce users into the chat. It is recommended that if you enjoy it and want to continue to use it, you download a seperate IRC client as mentioned in the second section below. zx6e.net chat uses IRC. The web applet should autojoin the channel. Those IRC savvy will find the #zx6e.net channel on efnet. If the java applet fails to connect to the server, please find the list of efnet servers HERE and find one close to you. Type in /server (servername you found) to connect to it, then join channel as normal. Please keep in mind, an IRC network consists of thousands of users, and it's likely someone is using the nickname you have tried to change yours to, try something else if it does not change. Again, if you enter a new name in the bottom right and nothing happens, It's probable someone else has that name, try again with something different. If you wish to use a seperate client, or do not have java installed, you can find a list HERE. mIRC is popular for windows. An easy to follow tutorial on downloading and installing mIRC can be found RIGHT HERE. Or those using Trillian for their IM'ing needs already, will find it has a built in IRC client as well. After all of this, you can not for the life of you figure it out, drop troll a PM or mail for help. Enjoy. It is recommended you change your nickname (using the small box in the right hand bottom corner or by typing /nick (nameyouwant) minus parenthesis of course ) in the regular text input section (where you type to the channel) to something other than " zx6e(random number) " so we know who the heck you are. Efnet has a limit of 9 characters for nicknames. Unfortunately closing this window or clicking on any link on this page, other than those listed in this help section, WILL close the chat. Which is why it is recommended for users who wish to continuely use it, to go another route to connect to the server. This applet if for new or curious users to see what we're doing, and see if they would like to get involved. As a one and only outlet to our chat, it could get rather annoying after awhile :) NOTE: You can detach the current channel window by clicking the min/max button at the top right of the chat table (like the middle button for you win users) left of the X. P.S. Yes, troll is probably just idling around never paying attention to you. If you do the same, he may just talk!
